Third-Party vs Emerge Private AI Models

When you're choosing an AI model inside Emerge.ai, you might notice two distinct types available to you — 3rd Party models and Emerge Private models. But what's the difference, and why does it matter?
3rd Party Models
These are the AI models built and maintained by external companies. You'll recognize the names:
ChatGPT (OpenAI): Your reliable all-rounder, great for writing, brainstorming, and everyday tasks
Claude (Anthropic): The deep thinker, best for long documents and tone-sensitive tasks
Gemini (Google): The researcher, strong at data-heavy questions and broad knowledge
Grok (xAI): The newcomer, known for real-time information and a direct conversational style
3rd Party models are incredibly powerful and cover a huge range of tasks brilliantly. However, when you use them, your data is being processed by an external provider, meaning it passes through infrastructure owned and managed by that third party, outside of your organization's direct control. As a passthrough provider, Emerge.ai offers the opportunity to use these models anonymously.
Emerge Private Models = Private AI
Private Models is where Emerge.ai goes a step further. An Emerge Private model is an AI model that is hosted and run on private Emerge servers, meaning the data never leaves our organization at all.
💡 Think of it like the difference between using a public postal service and having your own private courier. Both deliver the message, but one never leaves your control!
For many businesses, keeping data completely in-house isn't about preference; it's a compliance requirement! Industries like finance, legal, healthcare, and government often have strict rules about where data can be processed and stored.
An Emerge-Private model means you get the full power of AI without ever compromising on data security.
